"Holly and Pussy Willows on Seafoam Green Vintage Christmas Postcard" is from an old Christmas postcard steeped in symbolism of the season. While we don't typically associate willows with Christmas however they are used to symbolize the resurrection. So naturally they are associated with Jesus and thus his birth.
One of the reasons I began doing my own digital art was sparked from restoring Vintage postcard art and images. So many of these mini artworks are heavily soiled and damaged. I love restoring these beautiful cards back to their original condition or at least close. While these images are public domain the restoration techniques and process is my own painstaking work. This image is my copyrighted property and may not be copy in part or whole.
Born in Holmen, Wisconsin, Colleen Cornelius? work draws inspiration from her early childhood experiences growing up in a rural town. A one room general store with creaky wooden floors, tire swings attached by frayed rope to oak trees, and pale gold hay bales laid across contrasting green pastures are all a thing of the past to Colleens once cozy hometown. These days the town has grown almost ten-fold, and the old general store has since become a distant memory. Today, Colleen is focused on capturing contrasting images of nature and Americana that invoke a sense of nostalgia from living on the farm belt to the industrial growth of cities that have created beautiful cityscapes.
